A Basic Introduction to Cat Eye Care

Here are 5 things you might not know about your cat’s eyes:

  1. Cats have a third eyelid: In addition to their upper and lower eyelids, cats also have a third eyelid, also known as the “haw,” that helps to protect and moisten their eye. This eyelid is not always visible, but can be seen when a cat is sick or tired.
  2. Cats have excellent night vision: Cats have a structure in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum, which reflects light and helps to improve their night vision. This is why a cat’s eyes often appear to glow in the dark.
  3. Cats can see a wider range of colors than humans: While humans are able to see a range of colors, cats are able to see a wider range of colors, including some shades that are not visible to humans.
  4. Cats have better distance vision than humans: While humans are better at seeing objects up close, cats have better distance vision and are able to see objects at a greater distance.
  5. Cats have a limited ability to see color: While cats can see a wider range of colors than humans, they have a limited ability to see color compared to humans. This is why they may seem to be attracted to certain colors more than others.
